Sunday was a fun day at Steep Hill Farm. We even had a couple that came all the way from England to pick our berries!! Well, they were also vacationing for a few weeks on a local lake. But still…
It is one of those great growing years that you see every once in a while and you should take advantage of it. So come on out to the farm and enjoy the fresh fruit and great picking conditions.

It is hard to believe that it is August already, and what a summer it has been! As you look around you will begin to notice the golden rod and the Queen Anne’s Lace along the edges of the fields and roads, and as sun sets in the west, you can can hear the crickets chirping. These are definite indications of the onset of late summer that we are all familar with… But, lets not get too ahead of ourselves yet, there is plenty of summer left and with that comes prime blueberry picking. As the summer peaks so does the blueberry harvest, so come out to the farm and enjoy our bountiful crop!

Okay, so yesterday I talked about the bounty in Maine and mentioned sweet corn and green beans, among other things. I guess I misled people because they came to the farm salivating for blueberries, corn and beans! Sorry, we only have blueberries to go with the corn and beans!! Didn’t mean to mess you guys up!
BUT, do we have blueberries: ripe, juicy, sweet, luscious blueberries. Come get yours. We’ll be open 8 A.M to 7 P.M on Friday .

This weekend was a great weekend for picking blueberries. So many beautiful families and friends came to our farm: old folks; babies; teens; young adults; and middle aged adults. I know for a fact we had a 2 1/2 week old baby and a man of 90 years old in the field. You can’t beat that! Berry picking is one of the few activities that accommodates just about anyone.
Even after a great weekend, the blueberry patch has an unbelievable bounty of berries. If there ever were a banner year for blueberries on our farm, this is it. Just about everyone that comes into the barn after picking is in awe of the amount of berries in the 2 acre field. It is quite fulfilling to know you have helped nurture a crop that so many people appreciate.
Don’t let this bounty get by you! Hope to see you in the Patch! We will be open Monday from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M.
