Hello All You Blueberry Pickers,

Well, Thursday was certainly a warm day, needless to say.  However, the true pickers showed up early in the morning to beat the heat and humidity and got their  berries and left before it got too warm. However, to my surprise the afternoon pickers, ( you know the ones that  like to  sleep in) did their share of  picking as  well.

As I  walked up and down the field today looking for the perfect blueberry bush for each  picker,  I could feel the heat all around me. I was surrounded by the huge plants with all this ripening fruit.  I could actually feel the heat of the berries as they ripened and  absorbed the sun’s rays. I could feel the sun beating down on my back  and the ground’s warmth  reaching up as if tell me to lie down and take a nap, yes it was hot. But, as I looked up and down the rows of  lush berries a calm overtook me. This is summer in Maine, enjoy it,  absorb its warmth and beauty.  I guess I call it my  moment of zen for the day .

Now back to business…  We are watering the berries continuously to keep them plump and  fresh for your picking. The crop is plentiful  and they are ripening day and night with this warm weather.  We will be open from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. each day.   It will be great picking all weekend long.

See you in the Patch !
