One of the best parts of having a crop such as blueberries to sell is that we get to see old friends come year after year to pick in our patch. We get to hear about their families growing and changing; sometimes there is bad news of someone passing but a lot of great news is shared as well, such as weddings or grandchildren happening. We also get to witness the growth of families. Today two little boys and their mother came to pick. We remember when the Mom used to come with each one of these as newborns! Now they’re preschoolers and growing!
Another very special couple of people came today to pick our berries. The young woman was one who picked here a long time ago with her mother and two sisters. That was probably about 18 years ago. Today she came with her new husband, and we got to catch up on happenings between then and now. She has become a charming young woman, well-educated and worldly. She said she didn’t remember picking blueberries to be quite so taxing. I told her it was because her mother used to do most of the work! She used to play with our two daughters, who are now out of state pursuing careers and lives. This young lady has just recently returned to Maine to settle, after spending time in Germany, France and Serbia. It was great seeing her as a young woman with a new husband picking blueberries at our farm.
Make memories picking blueberries! We’ll be open from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
