Sunday was the first day in a while we didn’t have a downpour at Steep Hill Farm in the afternoon. It was sunny most of the day and a bit steamy at midday.  More berries went into quart containers and home to houses where they will be made into pies, cakes, muffins, fruit cups, jam, buckles, crisps, cobblers and go straight into mouths!

It was a special day for us, because our new six month old baby granddaughter came up from New York with her parents  and got to see the blueberry operation for the first time! Her favorite time of the day was laughing out loud at the cute little doggie named Bruin that was on the owner’s leash at the container shed. We don’t let dogs go into the field, for health reasons, so he stayed behind while others in his party picked in the field. Bruen was a little fluffy dog, cute as can be, who entertained our granddaughter immensely. She chortled and laughed and giggled.  There’s something about a baby’s laugh that makes adults laugh too….

Tomorrow promises to be another summer day of picking on the Farm. Our berries are in their prime right now, juicy, ripe and blue. Somebody said they jump right into your basket. Come get yours.

We will be open Monday from 8 A.M. to 7 P.M. weather permitting.
